“I always said I would win the Lottery one day,” a Montgomery County woman who calls herself “Lady Jackpot Chaser” said while claiming her second-tier “Mega Millions” prize.
The Silver Spring native said that she was chasing the ultimate jackpot, but she isn’t scoffing at the seven-figure victory either as she became a newly minted millionaire.
She said that she has been chasing a Lottery jackpot all her life - hence the self-appointed nickname - and she’s won big before, but not quite this big.
“I didn’t believe it. I didn’t know how to react,” the 61-year-old said, adding that “she was not totally shocked, as she knew her days of jackpot chasing would pay off.”
To land her big win, “Lady Jackpot Chaser” used a combination of her birthday, a friend’s birthday, as well as random numbers to fill out the $8 “Mega Millions” ticket, playing two numbers for the April 18 and April 21 drawings.
Despite the $1 million windfall, the Maryland Lottery player has no plans on stopping and plans to keep chasing that “Mega Millions” jackpot, which was up to an estimated $368 million for the Friday, June 30 drawing.
“Oh yes, I will keep playing,” she promised.
